Unity Church of Portland offers selected classes, many of which can be taken for credit in the Unity Spiritual Education and Enrichment (SEE) program. Distance learning classes are also available from Unity online.

Fundamentals of Jesus
Aramaic Biblical Scholar and Lecturer Hanny Freiwat carries us back almost two thousand years and provides a clear perspective of Jesus in the light of his own language, culture and times.
From his unique position as a Palestinian-American, Hanny weaves the insights of his native background with scholarly inquiry to help foster the understanding necessary to allow the Bible to reclaim its relevance in our contemporary lives.
A native speaker of Arabic, Hanny is proficient in Aramaic exegesis, helping many class participants understand how the Semitic context of culture, language, idioms, symbolism, mystical style, psychology, and literary amplification are essential to understanding this ancient spiritual document.

Myrtle Fillmore's Healing Letters
With Sandra Combs, L.U.T. This six-week class is based on the book, Myrtle Fillmore's Healing Letters, a collection of letters written by Myrtle Fillmore, one of the founders of Unity. Discover Myrtle's fresh, clear, and intimate way of communicating spiritual truths. It is like being in her presence and receiving instruction and inspiration from the Christ mind that spoke so freely through her.
In class, we will be looking at, but not limited to:
- prayer
- healing
- the development of faculties
- other deep phases of truth
- everyday things
- advice to married people
- our work, our methods

Discover the Power Within You
With Connie Munro, L.U.T. This six-week class is based on the book, Discover the Power Within You, by Eric Butterworth, Unity minister. This is the book that Oprah says "changed my perspective on lilfe and religion!" Ideal introduction to Unity for people coming from a more traditional Christian background.
Take a fresh look at the teachings of Jesus from a metaphysical and philosophical point of view. See how the great idea of "Christ in you"-emphasized in Eric Butterworth's book-can lead to biblical and personal revelations.

Course in Miracles Study Group
Course in Miracles with Allen Watson
Study groups will RESUME on Tuesday, September 7 and Thursday, September 9, 2010. We will pick up with Chapter 4 of the Text.
Study groups are progressing through the Text section by section, over a period of several years. Newcomers are always welcome!
Nothing real can be threatened. Nothing unreal exists.
Allen Watson facilitates two Course in Miracles groups. We are currently studying the Text of the Course, one section (or less) of the Text each week. Allen writes a detailed commentary on each section which is distributed a week prior to class, giving students a chance to read through the section and study the notes ahead of time. This makes for a rich time of discussion in which all the students share their insights, "Aha!" moments, accounts of applying the Course to their lives, and, of course, their questions.
Classes are open to all, and geared to include both beginners and advanced students. Feel free to begin attending any week.
Suggested love offering: $10 (no one refused for lack of funds).
Allen has been a student of the Course since 1985 and has facilitated Course study and support groups since 1987. He worked as a writer, teacher, and webmaster for the Circle of Atonement: Teaching and Healing Center, in Sedona, AZ (an organization dedicated to A Course in Miracles) from 1993 through June, 2006, and is author of a dozen books and booklets concerning the Course, which can be purchased online at Circle Publishing.
